Job Description

The DSO’s Office Manager plays a key role in contributing to the success of the orchestra’s projects.  This role will suit someone who is experienced, multi-skilled and motivated, who can multi-task, show initiative, work accurately under pressure, and who enjoys working with a wide variety of people (musicians, volunteers, the Board, audience, sponsors, VIPs etc).  A strong interest in orchestral music is desirable. 

The Office Manager is responsible for managing:

  • Monthly financial functions.
  • Database and payroll systems.
  • Concert series subscription processing, including ticketing.
  • Front-of-house arrangements for concerts.
  • Multi-faceted administrative functions of the office.
  • Health and safety requirements.
  • Assisting with hires of Hanover Hall, the orchestra’s home. 

Desired Skills and Experience

Essential skills and experience for this role are:

  • Xero accounting (debtors, creditors, transaction coding), Microsoft packages (especially Word and Excel), Database, Payroll.
  • Excellent inter-personal, written and verbal skills.

The core role is 30 hours per week (with the potential of additional hours available for the successful candidate).  There will also be evening and/or weekend work for concerts, attending Board meetings, and additional hours required at other busy times.
